Name: Peter Parker
Canon: MCU
Age: 18
Appearance: Here
Canon Point: From after his first time in Penance, where he was canon updated to the end of No Way Home.
Background: Someone’s gotta look out for the little guy, you know?
CRAU: Peter Parker, coming from his first round in Hell, has had to grow up even faster than he did back home, dealing not only with suddenly gaining his memories from his experience with the multiverse and the consequences of said multiverse, but also dealing with the perpetual curveballs Penance threw his way on top of that. In doing so, he's matured into a young man trying to navigate the world around him with more grace than when he was younger.
Peter has struggled with the knowledge of what he's lost back home (May getting killed and losing Ned and MJ in order to fix breaking open the multiverse) and struggled with not giving into his own darker urges (as he almost did when fighting and nearly killing Green Goblin). Emotionally, he is in a more stable place but he still walks a tricky line knowing how far he nearly went. He was more innocent during his first time in Penance, and trying harder to seek redemption. Now, he's in shades of grey as he struggles to keep from adding to his already lengthy list of sins.
In Penance, Peter has dealt with all sorts of situations, from being kidnapped to getting in fights to getting cravings for literal, actual bugs, and everything in between. He's formed a close bond with 616!Peter Parker, who he considers the older brother he's never had, which has helped to keep him more grounded.
He's still very much himself, still definitely willing to try and save everyone and be the Big Damn Hero, but he's more knowledgeable, understanding, more experienced of the world and Penance, and much more aware of his own weaknesses. He's slightly more cautious and more trying to keep a hold of himself, but due to this he's also more vulnerable to the temptations Penance has to offer.
Personality:
Brave: Peter throws himself into danger in order to try and save the world. In striving to do good and “look out for the little guy,” he takes risks, including with his own life, and he shows courage in how he tries to save people and stop evil. He climbs up and jumps off the Washington Monument to save his class, even while he’s out of webs and at a height with the potential to fall to his own death. He motivates himself to lift off the remnants of the concrete building Vulture drops on him, and he fights wholeheartedly against Thanos and his army during both of Thanos’ attempts to achieve his plan of destroying life in order to create a more desirable world.
Stubborn: Peter is often quite stubborn just as much as he is determined; when he makes up his mind, he goes all out to see it through, even to the detriment of others and himself, such as when he bypasses the safety protocols in the suit Tony Stark made for him for the sake of being able to do more as a hero, when he leaves the safety of Homecoming to pursue Adrian Toomes/Vulture, his constant attempts to evade Nicky Fury and Agent Hill’s attempts to contact himand when he ignores Tony Stark instructing his Iron Spider suit to take him home, sneaking up and following Tony Stark and Dr. Strange into space.
Not Subtle: Peter’s lack of subtlety is one of his most defining characteristics, often remarked upon by various people in his life, close or otherwise, such as Liz Toomes, who tells Peter that she knows he has a crush on her, and MJ, who figures out Peter is Spider-Man and is constantly teasing him about sneaking off all of the time. Peter is also not as careful as he ought to be, particularly in his own apartment, in which his lack of paying attention to his surroundings leads to him revealing himself as Spider-Man to both Ned and Aunt May.
Naïve/Gullible: For as smart as he is, Peter wanting to believe in the best of people and striving to balance his life as both a normal teenager and Spider-Man often leads to him walking right into danger and trusting those he shouldn’t. He doesn’t realize Liz Toomes’ dad, Adrian, is the Vulture until he picks Liz up for the Homecoming dance (and, on the way to said dance, accidentally gives away his identity as Spider-Man to Adrian), and he falls for Quentin Beck’s act as a visitor from another universe, entrusting him with the Edith glasses because he believes Beck is the right person to entrust them to.
Intelligent/Resourceful: Peter is intelligent and clever, able to answer questions correctly in math class even while distracted and catching up on his antics as Spider-Man on Youtube, he’s a member of Midtown High’s Academic Decathlon team, and he’s constantly experimenting to try and improve the web fluid in his web shooters. He’s able to use available tools in his shop class to examine strange and advanced alien technology, and, of course, he created his original Spider-Man outfit using sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and an old pair of goggles.
Nerd/Smart Ass/Pop Culture Junkie: Peter is a nerd, through and through. In addition to the Academic Decathlon team, Peter was a member of the marching band and robotics lab prior to dedicating the majority of his free time to the “Stark Internship,” aka, being Spider-Man. He is also a huge fan of Star Wars, as seen by how excited he gets when Ned offers Peter a chance to help build his Lego Death Star set.
Peter also often has a smartass remark to make in any given situation (“I love Led Zeppelin!” while Happy is blasting AC/DC), and, being an absolute nerd, often references pop culture while doing so. “Stark says you won’t understand that because it isn’t a Star Wars reference,” as Talos, posing as Nick Fury, tells Peter. Peter often makes use of pop culture when forming plans, such as when he uses the movie Alien to help save Dr. Strange.
Weaknesses/Temptations: Peter is always trying to do the right thing, to be a “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man,” and to “look out for the little guy.” He strives to be able to balance life as a normal teenager with his heroics as Spider-Man, and it’s through his desire to do right and be a teenager where Peter is most vulnerable and prone to making mistakes, such as the time he gave the EDITH glasses left to him by Tony Stark to Quentin Beck, believing that Tony meant for him to be the one to choose to bequeath said billion-dollar technology.
In seeking to do the right thing, Peter often chooses the course of action that takes away from his chance to be a normal teenager. He pursues Adrian Toomes/Vulture instead of spending Homecoming with Toomes’ daughter, Liz, because he knows he needs to stop Vulture from selling dangerous technological weapons. If Peter believes he’s doing the right thing, he will make that choice, no matter what it costs him.
Sins:
Accidentally calling a drone strike on Brad.
Giving Edith glasses to Quentin Beck/Mysterio.
Ruining Liz Toomes’ life several times over.
Vigilantism.
Not being able to stop Tony Stark from dying.
Putting Ned, MJ, and the rest of his class in danger.
Disappointing Aunt May.
Guilt.
Lying.
Violence.
Destruction.
Avoiding responsibility.
Recklessness.
Naivety.
Attempted murder.
Violence.
Nearly giving in to his own rage.
Getting Aunt May Killed.
Using Magic as a shortcut to fix his problems.
Breaking his promise to Ned and MJ to make them remember him after having Strange cast a memory spell wiping their memories of Peter Parker.
Putting Ned and MJ in danger; ruining their lives with his own mess.
Using magic to wipe the memories of the entire world to clean up his mess.
Getting Peter Two stabbed when he tried to help him.
Powers/Abilities: A summary of his powers/abilities can be found here but to summarize:
Enhanced Physiology: Through the radioactive spider bite Peter received, he gained the physical abilities equivalent to those of a spider, granting him advantages to strength, speed, and endurance, in such a way that Peter refrains from participating in any activities (such as team sports) that might lend themselves to revealing the true nature of his abilities.
Super Strength: Peter is considerably stronger than an average human, able to use his webs to swing half of a car at an enemy, hold apart a breaking boat, and lift off part of the concrete building Vulture dropped on top of him. It should be noted that his strength does have limits, given that lifting that concrete took considerable effort on Peter’s part, and that, according to Tony, if Steve Rogers/Captain America really wanted to, he could easily overwhelm and defeat Peter.
Endurance: Peter has an enhanced durability that allows him to survive injuries and impacts that would otherwise severely injure or kill a normal person, such as surviving a plane crash, falling down an elevator shaft, and getting hit by a speeding train. He isn’t immortal, however, and while he does tend to recover more quickly than a normal human, he does sustain injuries and wounds that hurt, as demonstrated when Happy is tending to his wounds after he gets hit by a train.
Agility and Reflexes: Peter is quick and able to move like a spider, capable of precise and heightened movements unattainable by normal humans. He swings around on webs easily, makes leaps and jumps of great heights and distances with relative ease (such as when he swings out of his school bus, under a bridge, and towards the alien invasion in Infinity War). His agility also lends itself to his heightened reflexes, which allows him to dodge punches, kicks, bullets, various weapons, and attacks of all kinds. (Though, if he is distracted, he is as capable of taking a hit to the face like anyone else.)
Stamina: Peter possesses a greater ability to last longer doing physical activities before fatigue sets in, though he’s very capable of expending his strength and running out of energy.
Peter Tingle/Spidey Sense: Peter possesses what has been dubbed the ‘Peter Tingle,’ which is a sort of sixth sense ability that alerts him when danger is near. This adds to his agility and reflexes in allowing him to avoid incoming attacks, but doesn’t appear to work when someone Peter trusts and cares for is near, such as when Aunt May surprises Peter with throwing a banana at him. Also, if Peter is distracted or his senses overwhelmed, his ability to make use of his ‘Peter Tingle,’ is severely compromised/might not work at all.
Advanced Healing: Peter heals and recovers from injuries much faster and much more thoroughly than a normal human. In Hell, the speed and thoroughness with which Peter heals will be nerfed; he can still recover quickly, but only just slightly faster than a normal human without abilities, and the more severe the injury, the longer it will take for him to recover.
Wall-Crawling: As Peter himself describes his abilities, he is ‘strong and sticky!’ He possesses the ability to stick to surfaces such as walls, ceilings, the sides of buildings, etc. and the ability to climb, scale, and cling to these same surfaces without the use of outside assistance (ropes, adhesive gloves, etc.). He’s able to relegate this ability so that only parts of his body (feet or hands, upper or lower body, etc.) sticks at any given time, so that he can multitask, keeping himself grounded (so to speak) while fighting enemies.
Items:
His newest Spider-Man Suit from the end of NWH
Extra web fluid cartridges
Wallet
Apartment keys
Pair of sneakers.
Cell phone (no service & doesn’t work at all in Hell)
